Amazon.com Product Description The Intel MFSYS25 Modular Server System is an all-in-one server building block that’s ideal for small and medium-sized businesses that want to simplify complex IT environments by integrating storage, computing, and networking in a single box. Built on Intel Multi-Flex Technology, it is designed from the ground up to be the one system that you can rely on to simplify the growing demands of your business.

The Intel MFSYS25 Modular Server System:
  • Combines storage, computing, and networking in a single box.
  • Includes “Virtual Presence” Management software for complete remote system management.
  • Supports up to 6 server compute modules and 14 SAS hard drives.
  • Offers a tool-less, hot-swap design for easy configuration.

The chassis supports up to six Multi-Core Intel Xeon dual processor-based server compute modules and 14 hard disk drives.View larger. View rear.

All-in-One Server Solution
Based on Intel’s Multi-Flex Technology, the Intel MFSYS25 is an easy-to-use modular system that greatly simplifies the configuration and management of your IT infrastructure. With integrated shared storage and options for up to six servers, buy only the storage and computing capacity you need–and add more later as your business grows.

The Virtual Presence end-to-end management interface offers full system management via a Web browser as well as easy-to-use configuration wizards for system set-up of storage and network functionality. The system’s remote KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) feature allows you to log in and manage the servers as if you were physically in front of it.

The chassis supports up to six Intel MFS5000SI Server Compute Modules and includes 14 hard disk drive carriers, a hot swappable I/O fan module and main fan module, two power supply modules, storage control module with battery backup, management module, and Ethernet switch module. The Gb Ethernet switch offers 12 internal and 10 external 1 GbE ports, adding integrated networking capabilities to the system. And by offering an integrated SAN, it eliminates the need to purchase and configure an external SAN, with all the complexities and cost associated with that.

Expandable. Scalable. Flexible.
The Intel MFSYS25 offers extreme scalability by letting you purchase only what you need when you need it. The system supports up to six Multi-Core Intel Xeon dual processor-based server compute modules, virtualized shared storage for up to 14 2.5-inch SAS hot-swap hard disk drives, redundant Ethernet switches and storage controllers. In addition, the diskless server compute modules utilize the integrated SAN via virtual drives to further increase flexibility and maximize storage utilization.

The all-in-one modular system integrates storage, computing, and networking in a single box.

The Modular Server utilizes consolidated power options and cooling features designed to lower overall operating costs by as much as 20-30 percent–without compromise to performance. The chassis power supplies can utilize 100-240V AC power, eliminating special power requirements worldwide. The cooling subsystem consists of three cooling zones–I/O module cooling, hard drives and power supplies, and compute modules–each with dedicated hot-swap fan modules that contains a status LED to indicate fan failure.

Compact Easy-to-Service Single-Box Design
The Intel MFSYS25 may be utilized in either a 6U rack-mount or pedestal-based configuration (rails sold separately). The system’s highly refined form offers extreme ease of deployment and maintenance by eliminating the mess of wires typical of most complex server systems.

The tool-less design features easy access to the disk drives, I/O slots, cooling, and hot-swap power supplies. The system also features easy-to-view status and fault indicator LEDs, front-viewable compute module ID LEDs, and color-coded parts to identify hot-swappable and non-hot-swappable components. Hot-swappable components don’t require any cables or tools to service, and the integration of Layer 2 switches at the back of the box allows you to eliminate an entire layer of infrastructure from your solution, vastly simplifying your configuration and maintenance.

The chassis is designed to support multiple generations of server compute modules, giving you the option of swift upgrades to the latest computing technology. The overall chassis size is 10.3 x 17.5 x 28.4 (HxWxD), and when fully configured it weighs approximately 190 pounds. It is backed by Intel’s 3-year limited warranty.

The MFSYS25 greatly simplifies complex and hard-to-maintain IT environments.

Business Process Automation – Performance and Capacity Planning with BPEL

April 27, 2010 by BPELforum

Product Description
The “Performance and Capacity Planning Method for BPEL4WS-based Business Process Automation” refers to the ability to predict resource consumption of a defined set of business processes automatically executed on an IT server system. A prediction model integrates all factors that influence a resource consumption prediction into a single tool. On the basis of a prediction model an accurate hardware configuration can be proposed which is able to run the defined set of business processes with the required throughput. This book gives a complete overview of how to develop, verify, and apply a performance and capacity planning method for BPEL-based processes in general. In particular, the performance and capacity planning method is established for BPEL-based business processes on IBM WebSphere software. This includes the WebSphere Process Choreographer Version 5.1 workflow engine of the WebSphere Business Integration Server Foundation Version 5.1, WebSphere Application Server Version 5.1, WebSphere MQ Version 5.3 and the DB2 Universal Database Version 8.1.
